Val and Len had their wedding ceremony outside the very day after it became allowable in Ireland. And what a day, and what a setting for it! Like so many Irish couples today, the lads had to plan their wedding from quite a distance, travelling with lots of friends all the way from Australia for the occasion, but things couldn’t have fallen into place better if they were living in Cork. Everyone got ready at Innishannon House Hotel, and from her room Val could keep an eye on guests arriving outside. Everyone took a seat on the lawns of the beautiful garden overlooking the river, so Val and her Dad made their way down to the waters edge where Len was waiting and the beautiful ceremony took place. They had a Christian ceremony that included a lovely hand fastening ceremony. Different friends tied different colour ribbons around the couples joined hands, each ribbon symbolising a good wish for the couple. After that everyone milled about in the gardens enjoying the sunny setting and each others company. It was all quite idyllic. The fact that absolutely everything happened in the one place made for a very relaxed day for everyone and meant that people got to spend lots and lots of time together and particularly when you live so far away isn’t that one of the most important things? Thanks so much Val and Len for letting me share some of the shots here.
