I think this had to be the perfect wedding day in Barnabrow! The vibe was chill, the sun was hot and love was all around. I am delighted that Ruth and Kim have allowed me to share a selection of photographs from their beautiful wedding celebration.
Ruth is from Cork but has been in London for years, where Kim hails from. They decided on East Cork and Barnabrow as a great location for their guests arriving from Ireland, the UK and further afield. It’s not that far from the airport, but it is a world of its own. They decided on me because they were looking for an LGBTQ+ inclusive photographer with a relaxed and natural approach. I’m that.
Ruth and Kim spent the morning together but once their friend had their make up done, the couple parted company. Kim headed down to one of the adorable rooms in the converted workers cottages. There she got dressed into her beautifully tailored suit, with her mum, sister and nieces lending a hand. Ruth remained in the main house and her daughters helped her get ready. I thought her elegant jump suit complimented her incredible Game of Thrones hair. The gang then assembled in front of the main house to all walk up together to the wedding ceremony. Ruth and Kim took each others hand and walked up the isle together. If you are in the planning stages of your wedding, give some thought to getting ready at the venue. It really helps reduce any stress and helps make the most of your valuable time on the day.
I was thrilled to see Brian Twomey was the celebrant, he brought his bright energy to proceedings. The ceremony was everything a wedding should be; full of heartfelt love, tears of joy and pride and loads of laughter. To the sound of enthusiastic cheering the newly weds exited the conservatory and greeted all their guests in the sunshine.
I organised the family group photographs near where the guests were enjoying the drinks reception on the deck. Love this because everyone can see whats going on. I don’t feel like I am pulling the couple away from their guests. They are right there, no one is missing a thing. Then we took a small walk around the beautiful Barnabrow grounds for some couple portraits. It really is a magical wedding location.
The day finished up for me when everyone sat for their meal in the evening, but I would say from the atmosphere when I was leaving the celebrating continued well into the wee hours.
Ruth and Kim said some lovely things that I would like to share here.
“You were absolutely wonderful on the day and now the photographs are here – they are absolutely stunning, we are really happy with them. THANK YOU!
