Planning a wedding in Ireland from the USA used to be bit on the tricky side, but not so much any more. Amanda and Scott decided to get married in Ireland, and managed to arrange a wedding that really suited their laid back and fun personalities, in a most stunning location; West Cork! You might expect coming all the way from Oregon, that it would just be the two of them. But no, a bunch of close friends and family decided to make the trip too! Amazing!
For couples planning a wedding in the West of Ireland, Shannon and Cork airports both have a great selection of venues within an hours drive, and offer fantastic opportunities for sightseeing outside of the wedding day. Amanda and Scott decided on Dunmore House for their wedding celebration, and the appropriately named Ocean club for the wedding ceremony and reception. Brian Twomey was their celebrant, another great choice for this couple. Brian always brings the fun to the ceremony, and there was plenty of that in this wedding. I enjoyed all the traditional Irish aspects they decided to include, like the hand fasting and the loving cup ritual, which everyone took part in. Those were in addition to the exchanging of vows and rings. I think the rings deserve a special mention here. Scott is a metal smith jeweller and he made these rings himself… OUT OF METEORITE! I never even knew such a thing was possible.
After the ceremony we did some very casual group photos. And I wandered down the waters edge with Amanda and Scott for a few pictures. We all hung out on the decking, and everyone soaked up the sun and enjoyed a drink, good company and the stunning scenery. As there was music playing there was an impromptu bit of dancing. Just enough to work up an appetite! I left them just as they sat to eat an early dinner together in the dining room.
I think generally small weddings are painted as fiercely intimate and romantic, and they are. But this one really proved a small wedding can be great fun too!
“We absolutely adore our wedding pictures. Thank you so much for everything you did. You really were spectacular!”
