Claire is the third of the Guinan sisters whose weddings I’ve had the privilege to capture, and being welcomed back felt like the warmest vote of confidence! There is a lovely familaritey for me, and for the whole family. We all have a sense of what to expect, it creates such a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

I arrived at Claire’s family home in Tullamore on the morning of the wedding to find the preparations already in full swing. The early start for hair and makeup meant that the morning unfolded smoothly, without any stress or rushing. We even had time to sit down for a quick bite to eat – a rare treat on busy wedding mornings!

I have to mention some of the incredible little details at this wedding. Claire is an artist, and her creativity and attention to detail was evident everywhere! She made beautiful necklaces for her bridesmaid sisters using the gold from her mums wedding ring. She created the bouquets, she designed the stationary, she drew and framed a picture of the VW Beatle that transported her to the hotel! I’m not sure its fair to call these DIY wedding elements when the bride is an artist. Perhaps most special of all thoug, she created a tie pin for Cathal with his recently deceased fathers finger print etched on it.

Lovely Niamh Davis was the celebrant for the ceremony, which had sweet details like warming the rings, hand fasting, some poems and music.

Despite the terrible weather we had been having in the days and weeks in the run up to the wedding, on the day it was just lovely. For the couple’s portraits, we strolled down the hotel’s tree-lined avenue. There was a lovely little garden that was the perfect location for some family photographs. Then it was time for Claire and Cathal to mingle.

We had forgotten the opportunity for confetti throwing earlier in the day, so we did it as they were announced into the dining room instead. Worked out brilliantly!
