Coline and Ross planned a beautiful wedding for family and friends who had travelled from all over the world to celebrate their marriage. For many, it was their first time in Ireland, and they certainly got the full experience: spectacular scenery, delicious food and a taste of our famous four-seasons-in-one-day weather!
The wedding ceremony took place in the church in Ross’s hometown of Kilrush, before a bus brought everyone along the coast to Diamond Rocks in Kilkee. And what a setting for a wedding venue! There can’t be many dining rooms in County Clare with views quite like this.
Situated at the start of the famous Kilkee Cliffs walk, Diamond Rocks has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Pollock Holes and the bay beyond. With the Wild Atlantic weather doing its thing outside, guests dashed from the bus into the warmth and welcome of the venue. Once indoors, everyone could relax, catch up and enjoy the spectacular views — along with plenty of champagne generously supplied by the French contingent! The beautiful flowers from Giulia added a lovely punch of bright colour.
When the weather allowed, the wedding party nipped outside for some relaxed, informal group photographs. Later, as guests were taking their seats for dinner, Coline and Ross and I took the opportunity to slip away for a few portraits.
We only had to walk a short distance along the coastal path to find some lovely spots for photographs. I like to keep this part of the day relaxed and moving, so couples can enjoy a few photographs together without feeling as though they’ve been whisked away from their own wedding. It’s particularly important to me that taking photographs doesn’t mean missing out on all the fun.
The timing worked out perfectly. Coline and Ross arrived back and were announced into the dining room and began the speeches before everyone enjoyed their meal together.
After dinner, they cut the cake, which had been made by a friend, and the band got everyone onto the dance floor. The celebrations continued late into the night.
Photographing weddings like this is one of the reasons I love being a wedding photographer in County Clare. It’s the beautiful locations, of course, but more it’s the people, the laughter and all those little moments in between that make a wedding day special. Coline and Ross brought people together from across the world to celebrate their marriage, and it was a pleasure to capture it all. I wish this lovely young couple who had to do long distance for so long the very best in their life together in Ireland.
“We can’t thank Claire enough for being such a great wedding photographer! The whole process from initial booking to the day was so swift and easy.
Claire was so organised and helpful throughout the whole day and was never intrusive. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and didn’t take much of our time either so we fully enjoyed the day with our guests, which was important to us.
We received the full gallery in no time and are so so happy with the pictures. Our friends and family have also all commented on how beautiful and personal the pictures look and we couldn’t agree more!
Thank you again!”
