I don’t think people realise how beautiful Tipperary is. Maybe now that I am living in the stoney Burren I have a new appreciation for those majestic green hills. Kate and Stephen certainly realised it, choosing the amazing setting of Aherlow House for their wedding day.
Back in the depths of COVID restrictions I photographed Kate’s sister’s wedding. With numbers so restricted I was almost like one of the guests, and so I really got to know this welcoming, loving, funny family. It was great to meet them all again and see them celebrating together at a much bigger gathering.
A Relaxed Aherlow House Wedding in Tipperary
One of the great things about an Aherlow House wedding is the self-catering lodges on site. Kate and her family got ready in one lodge, while next door Stephen and his family were getting ready. Ideal for me, because I was able to run from one to the other to photograph where ever the action was.
A cool vintage VW camper transported the wedding party to the church in nearby Bansha. The sun shone and when the ceremony was done it was lovely for everyone to mingle for a bit outside the church. I love the buzz of that part of the day. The serious business of the actual wedding successfully done, guests excitedly catch up and start looking forward to celebrating for the rest of the day.
Some what camera shy Kate and Stephen were keen to avoid missing out on any of the socialising. We kept formal photos to a minimum, we did each of the family groups and then a big group photo on the terrace during the drinks reception. Then when the guests were called to dinner we got some wedding party and couple portraits. It still left time for the couple to have a sit down and quiet drink together before being announced into the dining room.
Speeches were before the meal, and were absolutely hilarious! Everyone, myself included was in stitches hearing about the couples early dates. They really are a perfect match!
Wedding Photography at Aherlow House
This was one of those weddings that makes me so grateful to be a wedding photographer. It was exactly what a wedding day should be: a fun celebration of love, friendship and family. Thanks Kate and Stephen for having me there to enjoy and document it all.
“Our photos are beautiful, she captured the joy and magic of the day so well, every time I go back and look at our wedding gallery I feel like I’m reliving it.” Kate
