I really enjoy taking professional headshots. I meet such an interesting variety of people and hear about different and varied professions. Although a slow one, I do love to read and luckily I have gotten to take profile pictures for a lot of writers.

This is Julie Kennedy Fogarty. Julie contacted me to get some headshots recently. This woman wears many hats. She is head of operations at Eolas Money where she puts all her banking experience and her phd in economics to good use. She attained that PhD in the middle of becoming a mother and she now has four children. As you can imagine there is a lot of bedtime stories in the Kennedy Fogarty house. Julie loves the children’s stories and gradually started inventing her own. Two of these stories are now published and available to buy!

Julie needed an updated professional work headshot for her day job in the financial sector. We did a simple one light set up in work attire. This is suitable for her work website as well as LinkedIn and other business profile pic requirement. Then we did some more informal portraits with natural light in her lovely home. She needed a writers headshot for use on her own website, but also some profile pictures that she could use for publicity. We wanted these photographs to show a bit of personality and convey something of Julies work environment.

“Ruben’s Hunt for a Home” was the first of Julies books to be published. It is a gorgeous story, even though disaster strikes at the beginning it forces Ruben on an adventure! The story has lovely rhyming and a “hoppy ending”! I chose to photograph the book on a rustic timber table, sourouned by greens to echo the colours on the cover. The book is beautifully illustrated by Aaron R.

The cleverly titled “The Coolest Pet” is a funny read about a pampered little guy who get’s the coolest pet; a Yeti! I photographed this one with some nice soft textures, to give the feel of cosy bed time, again picking up on the colours in the illustrations. This one is illustrated by Ir Baykocska, and they are so sweet.

Julies books are available to buy from her website or ask in your local bookshop. I see Bookworm in Thurles are selling The Coolest Pet.

If you have or know some one with small children I would 100% recommend these as a beautiful gift. Enjoyable to read and have read!
