Kerry is lovely in fairness to it. I love Waterville. So when Eimhear and Colin told me they were looking for a wedding photographer for their Kerry wedding I was really excited. Despite being from Limerick the pair have close ties to the area. They selected the lovely Sea Lodge in Waterville as their wedding venue. Since childhood Eimhear and her family have headed off to nearby Derrynane for the Summer holidays. And I must say I really felt there was a lovey feeling of Summer holidays to the whole celebration.

I decided to take full advantage of a Waterville wedding and headed down the day before. In the evening, while enjoying a pizza from none other than my Cork neighbours Pompeii Pizza (they head to Waterville in the Summers) I bumped into Eimhear! She was sick a could be, on antibiotics and just hoping she would be feeling better the next day. The next day, she did feel better! Way better. Horray!

At this wedding we did things a little bit differently and did the portraits before the wedding ceremony. We were keen to get shots in Derrynane, and its about a 40 minute round trip from Waterville to Derrynane. We decided rather than disrupting the flow and party to do them in leisurely fashion before the ceremony. Such a great idea if I may say so myself. It allowed us plenty of time in Derrynane, Eimher and Colin got to spend some time together, and then when the ceremony was over they were able to spend all the time with their guests.

The wedding ceremony and reception were both in the Sea Lodge right in the middle of Waterville. It was a the perfect Summers day and we all enjoyed the drinks reception while soaking up the sun and taking in the great sea views. Oh and Pompeii Pizza were on hand with the icecreams too! Speeches were a pretty informal outdoor affair before everyone went in for the meal in the evening.

I finished off my little Waterville holiday with a quick swim before hopping in the car back home to Cork.

It was a pretty special wedding, thank you Eimhear and Colin for having me there, and to you and your lovely families for making me feel so welcome.

If you are looking for a Wedding Photographer in Kerry, please give me a shout, I’d be delighted for more days like this.
